Born to Fly: Helping Children Fly to Greater heights!

At Born To Fly, our heart is for children to meet Jesus through us. We believe that every child is born with the potential to fly high for God. This is the third year that God has given us the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of the children of the City of Monash at Albany Rise Primary School, and for the first time this year, at Frankston Heights Primary School, Frankston.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

Fun holiday programs for kids

We had approximately 200 children and 60 volunteers at this three-day program. This year, particular emphasis was on teaching responsibility, patience and gratefulness through puppet shows, skits, games, crafts, songs and lots more.

Appearances by characters like ‘Ziggie’ the puppet, who awarded prizes to children with outstanding behaviour; and ‘Patches’ the clown, encouraged all the children to participate and strive on. Through song lyrics such as “Step by step/I will grow/my potential to change the world” and “I will strive on/and always try my best” reminded the children how they are capable to reach and achieve their goals.

At BTF Awesome Sunday, we had special guest artist Lynton Allan, who uniquely shared the love of Jesus through chalk sketches of wildlife.

Wonderful comments from parents

Not only were the children eager for the next Born To Fly program, but parents were equally keen in future programs. Some positive feedback we received from parents included comments such as “Wonderful!”, “practical & relevant teaching, very good”, “(These are) excellent topics to teach as they provide extra reinforcement from what we try to encourage”

Along with providing the children with a fantastic time and teaching them important character qualities, more importantly, we believe that seeds of faith and love were planted in the lives of the children. We thank God for giving us this privilege to be the salt and light in our community.
